What Are The Rules For Flying With Strollers On Airlines?

Flying with baby gear can often be very confusing as every airline has different policies regarding strollers and car seats. If you are not a very savvy flyer, then you might miss out on some of the important aspects of traveling with infants. In this article, we discuss about traveling with strollers on airplanes so that you do not face any issues. Some airlines allow you to bring strollers to the gate of the plane without any charges, while others might ask you to submit baby strollers as checked bags.

What Are The Rules For Flying With Car Seats and Strollers?

If you are flying with a very large stroller, then you might not be allowed to get it checked at the gate. However, some airlines might allow you to walk up to the plane’s gate with their collapsible strollers. On Alaska Airlines, you can bring your infant stroller as a checked bag without having to pay any charges. This can also be checked with your normal luggage at the airport.

If you have booked your flight with American Airlines then an adult would be allowed to bring a baby stroller with them free of charge. If your baby stroller weighs more than 20 pounds, then you would have to check it in at the airport desk. Other strollers of small size can be checked at the gate.

As per the Delta airlines stroller policy, you can check in your baby stroller without any charges at the ticket counter or even at the gate. If you are flying on Volaris airlines, then you can buy the Vuela Classic fare for being able to bring a checked bag with you. You can then check your baby stroller in at this allowance. However, gate checkin of baby strollers is allowed on Volaris. You can simply drag your stroller to the aircraft’s gate and submit it there. Once the plane lands, this would be returned to you.

Hawaiian airlines requires you to check in your strollers weighing 50 pounds or more. Small and collapsible strollers can be checked free of charge. Frontier has mandated you to get your baby stroller checked in at the gate.

You can submit your car seat, baby stroller, backpack or even booster seats for free at the gate or ticket counter on JetBlue Airways flights. This is a great advantage of flying with this airline. Budget airline Spirit also permits free check-ins of infant strollers. Make sure that the car seats you are traveling with are all FAA-approved. On Spirit, you would be adjusted on the Big Front Seats if the car seat does not fit on regular seats.

Southwest airlines offer discounts to passengers and exclusive infant fares. You can book a separate seat for your children on Southwest at these low costs. Empty seats on Delta can be utilized for adjusting FAA-approved infant car seats even if you haven’t gotten a separate seat for them.

These were some of the keynotes regarding Volaris stroller policy and policies of other airlines.
